It seems only yesterday that the lifts stopped turning, we had our last snowboard run and we had packed the snowboards and skis back into storage. Suddenly the hot sticky summers of Seoul had me back into the realization that we are now more than half way to the next snow season and I need some down time with friends in the cool mountainous air. My life has been busy, no time for fun, no time for myself. So I decided that it was time to check out, grab some friends and supporters of Korea Snow and head back to the place of my winter dreams.

Ondol. On what?

So, "What is an ondol room?" you ask. This is a question often posed by our Korea Snow guests when bedding (hint hint) down their accommodation bookings. Still not sure? See hint. Yes, Ondol is the national way sleeping in Korea!

News has come in from International Ski Federation headquarters,  Switzerland, that the Alpine skiing test event scheduled for February at the new Jeongseon Ski resort in Pyeongchang, South Korea, is on track.

This year the 2nd Euro-Asian Mountain Resorts Conference is being held in the Republic of Korea. Following on from the success of the inaugural event in Kazakhstan in 2013, the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and Ulsan Metropolitain City, with support of the Government of the Republic of Korea are hosting the conference in Ulsan from 14 - 16 October 2015.

A delegation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) paid a visit to the 2018 Winter Olympic host visit and concluded the fifth Project Review. All up, things are looking good and the IOC is reported to be happy with the progress being made.In preparation for the big event, Pyeongchang is staging key snowboarding and skiing competions next year.

Big air in snowboarding and greater female participation at the Winter Olympics Games. Yeah baby! On Monday the International Olympic Committee (IOC) approved four new events for 2018 Pyeongchang, which it hopes will attract younger audiences and boost the number of women taking part in the games to record levels.

The 2014/15 season is done but Korea Snow punters are getting ready for the next one! Lately we've been fielding a few questions from snow newbies about what gear they'll need to keep warm on the Korean slopes. So we thought we'd answer the most common questions here, complete with our tips for saving time and money.

Lately we've fielded a few inquiries about the rules or Code of Conduct on the Korean Ski Fields. To be frank, we haven't been able to find an official code covering all the Korean ski resorts.What we have managed to do is plough through the individual resort codes to put together our own "Korea Snow Mountain Code" that should keep you zipping about on the Korean Slopes safely and with a smile on your face.
