Konjiam Resort is the newest and biggest resort in the Seoul metro region, situated only a 40 minute drive from Gangnam in the town of Gwangju. Opened in 2008, Konjiam Resort offers an upmarket mountain experience, from premium accommodation to introducing Korea’s first maximum skier / snowboarder number policy. Open nearly 24 hours during the snow season, this resort is another great convenient and flexible day / night out or luxury weekend getaway.
This resort has fast lifts; good and reasonably priced ski rentals; learner facilities; a decent wide trail run, with 6 trails and a total of 11 runs; and a small snowboard park. There’s something for everyone. The maximum number policy means ticketing options are really innovative and you can even buy slope time by the hour, with a 2 hour minimum applying. This is great for those who only have a limited time to enjoy the mountain. However, Konjiam Resort is still smaller than some of its Gangwon-do cousins and the location means it is also not completely snow sure, relying on state of the art snowmaking facilities and heavy grooming to keep slopes in good condition. This is the place to for a luxurious couple of days away, but maybe consider heading further up north for that destination ski holiday. Konjiam Resort also offers a ski and snowboard school, lockers, a repair room, a playroom for infants, a cafeteria and numerous restaurants in the main complex. During the season, a door-to-door shuttle service for 5 or more persons can be booked directly with the resort.
On resort accommodation is condominium style, with various options including luxurious Western and traditional ondol rooms and kitchenette to full kitchen facilities. Other facilities include a business centre, wellness spa, fitness centre, art gallery, convenience store, table tennis court, karaoke bar, live music venue and billiards room. There is also an arboretum and ecological river on site. Accommodation can also be found outside the resort in the neighbouring village of Gungpyenog and local attractions to visit include Namhansanseong Provincial Park and Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum.
